Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and drama performances, competitions, exhibitions and enrichment programs. Students with particular interests and talents can participate in local and statewide activities in visual arts, music, dance and drama.

Choir

Hinchinbrook Public School offers one choir which is made up of students from Year 1 all the way to Year 6. They have weekly lunchtime practices and are busy rehearsing for the upcoming performing arts festival at Mounties. The students also perform throughout the year at other venues including whole school blue awards assemblies and a Christmas concert at the local pre-school. It is lots of fun for students and everyone is welcome to come and have a go.

Dance groups

Hinchinbrook Public School offers two selective dance groups, the dazzlers and groovers. The dazzlers features 20 students from Year 4 to Year 6 and is coordinated by Mrs Malone. The groovers features students from Year 1 to Year 3 and is coordinated by Mrs Thompson.
